Volusia Storybook Village

This event is a free family-friendly event where children got to enjoy various activities as they walk through the event. The theme at our 2025 Storybook Village in Volusia County was a celebration of the DPIL program being 30 years old and the books they have featured, inspiring a love of reading in children. We also featured other fun activities such as face painting, a scavenger hunt, agreenscreen photographer, and much more.

This event gave families the opportunity to bring home many more books for their home libraries.

Additionally, we aim to raise funds for the Volusia County Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides free books to children from birth to 5 years old. Story Time

Story time invited families to gather together for a fun, interactive reading. 

Daytona Playhouse generously came out to our event to bring story time to life! Their talented readers used songs, colorful props, and animated voices to keep children engaged and encourage their participation.

Learning Through Play

Each book that we featured at Storybook Village came with a craft or activity. As families walked through the Storybook Village, they stopped at various tables to complete the craft or activity and receive a book.

Scavenger Hunt

Our scavenger hunt consisted of themed ducks, mini vehicles, and squishy cupcakes that all correlated with one of the chosen books we showcased or the event theme overall.

As families collected 10 items they made their way to the scavenger hunt table and were entered into a drawing for a $25 giftcard donated by Kaplan.
