An updated Standards training is part of the VPK course requirements. This is in addition to the literacy training requirements!

Training Opportunities that Apply to the Staff Development Requirement of POP!

  • Training Name: It's OK to Play in VPK!

  • Date: Session 1: Monday, September 8; 6:00-8:30 PM.
    Session 2: Tuesday, September 9; 6:00-8:30 PM.

  • Description: It's Okay to Play VPK! "What Educators Should Know About Teaching" is the first training in a 2-part series and is based on the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards. This training builds on the participants' knowledge of the standards as the participant learns why play is critical to the development of young children and how to intentionally teach and reinforce the standards through developmentally appropriate everyday activities. "Putting Play Into Practice" is the second training in the series that uses the participants' knowledge of the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards to facilitate hands-on learning.

  • Training Name: The Language of CLASS: The PreK CLASS Tool.

  • Date: Friday, September 12; 1:00 - 3:00 PM.

  • Description: This session provides an introductory/general knowledge of the Pre-K CLASS tool and highlights teacher-child interactions through the Pre-K CLASS lens.

  • Training Name: The Language of CLASS: Promoting Instructional Support.

  • Date: Friday, September 19; 1:00 - 3:00 PM.

  • Description: This session provides knowledge of resources and helpful strategies that align with the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards (FELDS), encourages teacher-child interactions and helps educators identify ways to improve their instructional practices.

  • Training Name: Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards (FELDS).

  • Date: Tuesday, October 7; 5:00-8:00 PM.

  • Description: This training provides early childhood educators with a comprehensive introduction to the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards (FELDS). Participants will explore the eight developmental domains that support children's growth from birth to kindergarten, learn how to integrate core concepts like play and communication into daily routines, and gain practical strategies for aligning classroom activities with the standards. The training includes interactive discussions and access to valuable resources to enhance curriculum planning and child assessment.
