Provider Reimbursement Information

School Readiness/VPK Closure Information

State administrative rules gives us permission to reimburse individual school readiness providers when the closure is beyond the control of the provider.

Florida Administrative Rule 60BB-8.204(4) says the coalitions will pay VPK providers for temporary closures if the provider can document that the closure is temporary and due to circumstances beyond the control of the provider.  However, when a state of emergency is declared then written documentation is not necessary.

A provider can be paid for up to a total of  ten (10) days for temporary closures over the course of a VPK program (school year or summer).  Beyond 10 days the provider must reschedule additional days to cover the gap.

When the parent decides to keep their children out of a school readiness or VPK program even though the program remains open, then the attendance policy rules apply (60BB-4.500 for School Readiness & 60BB-8.204(1) through(3) for VPK) for reimbursement.

Also, please remember to keep any documentation (photo’s, calls to FPL for restoration of service, unsafe water, etc.) should your claim for reimbursement be disputed by the state.
