Why Quality Care Matters

Researchers have shown what most parents intuitively know: that the early years are important and early relationships matter – at home and in child care. Studies show that children in high-quality child care demonstrate greater mathematical ability, greater thinking and attention skills, and fewer behavioral problems than children in lower-quality care.

What is quality care?

Both parents and professionals believe a warm, nurturing adult is the most important component of quality. A rich environment in which children engage in age appropriate, stimulating activities is the other major component of quality.
